The Blue Ridge Saxophone Festival exists to provide quality musical instruction and experience for saxophonists of all ages, ethnicities and musical abilities. Our goal is centered not around monetary rewards but to measure and enjoy the musical successes and the inspiration of those individuals served.

We are very excited to announce that our jazz clinician this year will be internationally known, multi Grammy Award winner Ernie Watts. Ernie was our clinician in 1997 and did an outstanding clinic. His portion of the concert was nothing short of amazing. We are also excited to announce that Dr. Ben Still will be our classical clinician. Dr. Still is an active solo and chamber musician throughout the United States. Currently, he serves on the faculties of UNC Charlotte and Lenoir-Rhyne University. You don't want to miss either of these clinics.

In the past, we have worked with internationally known performers such as James Houlik, Ernie Watts, Pete Christlieb, Craig Bailey, Joe Temperley, Chris Hemingway, Steve Pollock, and the New Century Saxophone Quartet as well as nationally known performers such as Jeff Kirk, Todd Wright, Jack Wilkins, and Neal Postma. Our goal is to once again bring saxophonists of this caliber to our area.

The Blue Ridge Saxophone Festival will be held at Appalachian State University on March 26, 2022. This event will include a full day of targeted classical and targeted jazz saxophone instruction and along with it, a large ensemble that will allow all of the festival participants to play alongside the clinicians regardless of their age or their ability. A rare treat for everyone!
